Police responded to reports of gunshots at the Dollar Tree at 999 North Montello Street in Brockton around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office reports.
Upon arrival, officers found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment where one man, later identified as Dongbin Pyon, age 38, of East Boston, succumbed to his injuries. Authorities believe the shooting was targeted.
Investigators have since identified former Dollar Tree employee Luis Soto, age 32, as the suspected shooter and issued a warrant for his arrest, the office reports. Soto was said to have left the store after the shooting and remains at large. While his car has been located, Soto was not.
The DA's Office said Soto should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact Massachusetts State Police or Brockton Police.
